I’ve been a community journalist for more than 20 years and have lived in Yakima since 2007. After spending seven years writing sports in Hood River and Roseburg, Oregon, I worked as a news copy editor at the Yakima Herald-Republic until 2016. That brought me to the Yakima Valley Business Times, where I was the managing editor for about three years.

I joined the Marketing and Communications team at Central Washington University in 2019, and I became the Associate Director of Strategic Communications in 2024. I have really enjoyed the move to higher education, but I am glad I still have an opportunity to connect with members of the community through my freelance work.

Since 2017, I have written sports and community news for the Selah and Toppenish monthly newspapers, as well as agriculture stories for the Capital Press. When I’m not writing and editing, I’m usually officiating a basketball or soccer game somewhere in the Yakima Valley. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.
